Fine particle foam concrete - made by disintegration of feed material prior to firing

In the production of =5mm fine particle size foam-concrete the granulated dried clay is broken up into the correct size after drying and prior to firing, during which operation a glass skin is formed on its surface. By leaving the particles skin undisturbed after firing no open porosity of particles occurs which may cause reduction in insulating props by absorbtion of moisture etc.
