Continuous sampling of dirty gas e.g. contg tar - using meandering path between baffle plates to prevent deposition and clogging

Device for taking gas samples for analysis, in the presence of substances which may clog the equipment, comprises a vertical column having an external heating jacket and fitted internally with a series of staggered discs to cause a meandering path to be followed by the sample. The sample is removed from the top of the column. Used e.g. for sampling gas in the presence of tar etc. coming from a cracking furnace.
