An authentication method using an authentication vector in a switching device and the switching device thereof are provided to use stored authentication vectors for an authentication processing function again without deleting the vectors, when vectors are not obtained, thereby stably processing authentication for a corresponding terminal even when failure occurs from an authentication vector generating device. A communication unit(510) transmits a request message for an authentication vector to an authentication vector generating device. A storage(530) stores received authentication vectors, and stores preliminary authentication vectors which are not deleted though being used for processing authentication. If n authentication vectors are received from the vector generating device, a controller(550) processes authentication of a subscriber authentication module by using one of the n authentication vectors. If the authentication vectors are not obtained, the controller processes the authentication of the module by using the preliminary authentication vectors. |
