Expanded plaster or cement materials are prepd. by introducing air or another gas into a mixture of water, calcined gypsum or cement, and a foaming agent consisting of (1) an alpha-alkenesulphonate or (11) an alkali metal, ammonium or ethanolamine salt of a sulphuric acid ester of an adduct of an epoxyalkene with an alcohol or alkylphenol. The foaming agents give high quality porous plaster or cement materials, as a result of their excellent foaming action. Esp. useful for prodn. of porous plaster board with excellent thermal and acoustic insulation.
