The ends of polyethylene, PVC or similar plastics tube, are welded by pressing into a cord at the intended welding point, leaving a portion projecting beyond, and cutting off the projecting portion by a hot wire or bar which both melts and seals the tube. Appts. has a holder containing a half-round recess and having a pivoting jaw at its free end which contains an opposite half-round recess; these together form the constriction for the tube, while a longitudinal slot passing through the whole apparatus receives the hot wire or bar to perform the cutting and sealing. |
