1369030 Non-woven fabrics KUFNER TEXTILWERKE KG 1 Dec 1971 [11 Dec 1970] 55760/71 Heading D1R [Also in Divisions B2 and B5] An adhesive layer carried by an intermediate support and used to bond two superimposed surfaces comprises spots of thermoplastic bonding material connected with a layer of separately applied fibre fleece of filamentary thermoplastic adhesive material of less than 5 denier. The fibres extending between the adhesive spots are such that they are molten or broken up under the action of heat during the application of the surfaces so that they merge together or coalesce with the adhesive spots. The adhesive material of the fibre fleece is preferably softer than that of the spots, the spots preferably being of polyamide, polyethylene, polyvinyl acetate or polyurethane and the fibre fleece of a copolyamide comprising 10-50% by weight of a softening agent. The adhesive layer may be produced by applying the spots to the intermediate support in powder or paste form using a doctor blade and engraved roller or perforated template, and spraying on the fibre fleece optionally the form of a solution. so that it is deposited between the spots and interconnects them. The intermediate support which is subsequently stripped from the adhesive layer may be paper or fabric which has been treated with a silicone or fluorocarbon compound. |
