<p>The nuts are fed on to the lower end of an elevator belt fitted with transverse flight bars which drag the nuts through a gap between the belt and a superimposed friction grille. The friction grille is pref. suspended from resilient mountings, the width of the gap is adjustable and decreases progressively from inlet to outlet. At the top of the elevator, the prod. and detached husks are discharged over a pneumatic separator grille supplied with a rising current of air from a blower mounted beneath the elevator. The husks twigs, leaves etc. are blown clear for collection while the remainder is passed over a vibrating size grader grille. This feeds sized prod. into a sack holding station. The machine can be tractor mounted and nuts earthered from the ground by a rotary paddle feeding on to the elevator. Alternatively the machine can be floor-mounted and hopper-fed. Used for de-husking sweet chestnuts, large edible chestnuts and other nuts. The machine is fully automatic and labour saving. Twigs leaves and other waste are removed as well as detached husks.</p> |
