A diesel engine or gas turbine (1) drives an electrical generator (2). The exhaust gases (3) of the engine are used to heat the building or raise domestic hot water. The output of the generator is supplied through controllers (10, 12, 16, 18, 20) to electric heaters (11), a cooker (13), electric power points (17), a hot water cylinder (21) or other appliances (18). The controllers are regulated so that they progressively reduce the load if it increases beyond the generator output. A further controller (12) can connect a public supply system (15) either to make up a deficiency of power or to receive any excess generated. The excess can also be used to heat an energy store (21) in the form of hot water. A cooling circuit can dissipate heat to avoid dangerous temperatures.
|
