<p>Method for preparing a myxomatosis vaccine comprises first preparing a strain of reduced pathogenicity of the 1025 virus type (Pasteur Institute, deposited 21st July, 1976). This is achieved by successive passaging of a spontaneous virus strain on rabbit kidney cells, cloning the resulting population, then passaging on chicken embryo cells. A cell culture is then prepd. from the new virus strain so obtd. Pref. both passaging phases are carried out at 30-35, esp. 33 degrees C and the number of passages on kidney cells is 60-100, and the number of chicken embryo cells 3-30. Used to protect rabbits and hares against myxomatosis. The vaccine is more effective than that prepd. from the Shope fibroma virus.</p> |
