PURPOSE:To provide an image receiving sheet for thermal transfer recording excellent in image preservability, especially, light fastness and dye blur resistance. CONSTITUTION:In an image receiving sheet for thermal transfer recording obtained by providing an image receiving layer containing a resin having dyeing properties with respect to a heat-diffusible dye to a support 1, the image receiving layer contains inorganic oxide absorbing ultraviolet rays. The layer of a protective sheet wherein at least one adhesive layer is laminated to a support contains a fine powder of titanium oxide and/or zinc oxide with a particle size of 200nm. In a protective material wherein at least one transfer protective layer 3 is laminated to a support, the transfer protective layer 3 contains a fine powder of titanium oxide and/or zinc oxide with a particle size of 200nm or less. In an image protecting method forming a resin layer to the surface of the image receiving layer of the image receiving sheet for thermal transfer recording having an image recorded thereon by a protective layer forming means, the resin layer contains a fine powder of titanium oxide and/or zinc oxide with a particle size of 200nm or less.
