PURPOSE:To achieve a linear-nonlinear digital signal converter with simple constitution, by using integrated circuits on market which are low in cost and is easily obtained, without using an ROM or a programmable random logic and the like. CONSTITUTION:In an adder 1, 32 is added to linear digital signals B2-B14 expressing the amplitude in 13 bits out of linear digital signals B1-B14 in code amplitude expression in 14 bits to output linear signals C2-C14 in 13 bits. A linear ditial signal B being a code bit, the linear signals C2-C14 after the said 32 is added, and nonlinear digital signals b1-b8 of 8-bit mu rule have a relation as listed in Table. That is, B1 becomes b1. An encoder 2 consists of 8-line/3- line encoder and receives the C2-C9, and makes encoding with the signal 1 at the most significant order of the linear signals C2-C9 as in Table and the output is made to nonlinear signals b2, b3, b4. The operation is similar thereafter. |
