In a method of manufacturing a multilayered fibrous product, wherein a layered product is deposited on a continuously moving gas-permeable forming surface by successively supplying streams of fibre-containing gas to said forming surface, at least the first layer formed on said forming surface is consolidated to such a degree that the majority of the fibres of said layer are oriented in a plane parallel to said forming surface.
