PURPOSE:To obtain a sealed lead storage battery, which has an excellent high-rate electric-discharge characteristic and in which no liquid leakage is caused even when its size is increased to around that of the usual car battery, by installing a separating body which is formed by dispersing glass fibers in a frame body provided with a plural number of partitioned parts. CONSTITUTION:A separator 3 prepared by packing glass fibers 2 into a resin frame 1 provided with a plural number of partitioned parts, is used. Although electrolyte is held amongst the glass fibers 2, it is necessary that the electrolyte doesn't migrate across the partitioned parts. Owing to such constitution, electrolyte held within each partitioned part is utilized only within it, and the concentrational difference of electrolyte hardly ever develops as the separator 3 is divided into larger numbers. In addition, since a given quantity of the electrolyte held within each partitioned part doesn't migrate, equalized quantity of the electrolyte with equalized concentration can be homogeneously supplied to the whole of an electrode. Therefore, even when the size of the electrode is increased, there are no possibilities that voluminal and concentrational differences of the electrolyte are caused between the upper and the lower parts of the electrode and that the high-rate electric-discharge characteristic is extremely deteriorated. |
