PURPOSE:To output a standard beautiful character while the characteristic of the hand-written inputted character is left as it is by generating and outputting the character pattern based on the information calculated by a characteristic point calculating means and selected by a linking information selecting means. CONSTITUTION:The hand-written character pattern inputted from a tablet 1-1 is recognized by using the characteristic points to constitute the character pattern by an on-line character recognizing device 2-1 and the linking information to link mutually the characteristic points, and recognized while the characteristics are mutually coped with between the hand-written input character pattern and the standard character pattern accommodated at a dictionary 2-2. The calculation is executed in which the interior dividing point to interior-divide the line segment to link respectively the characteristics point of the character pattern and the characteristic point of the standard character pattern to a certain specified ratio is a new characteristic point, and by using the new characteristic point obtained by counting the weighted mean and either of the linking information of the hand-written inputted character pattern or the linking information of the standard character pattern, the new character pattern is generated and outputted.
