PURPOSE:To improve the transient responsiveness of an energizing time control at the time of a small closed circuit rate by outputting an energizing signal to an ignition coil by using either of two signals: a signal generated from the time for ignition through the time for an interior division point, and a signal generated from the time for the interior division through the time for ignition. CONSTITUTION:In a pre-ignition period, when a rate of closed circuits is small, and when the time for start of energizing is in the section H of the output signal from a wave form shaping circuit 2, as a CE logic circuit 19 outputs an L signal, no counting by No.2 counter 10 is actuated. At the time of output signals from the section H of the wave form shaping circuit 2, when the CE logic circuit 19 outputs an H signal, No.2 counter 10 is counted to zero thereby outputting a bolo signal. This makes the output from an AND gate 16 a value of H and an ignition device 17 energizes an ignition coil. In this case, if an ignition period is abruptly changed into a short one, the amount of change in the ignition period is reduced as much as the output signal of the wave form shaping circuit 2 is proportional to the section H thereby making small the reduction rate of the energizing time for the ignition coil.
