PURPOSE:To accurately correlate a pair of images between points by comparing the vicinity of a picture element in which the change of brightness in a pair of images is large, and obtaining the dislocating quantity of a feature point between images. CONSTITUTION:Into an image memory part 13, two images photographed simultaneously from a different position are stored. A pretreatment part 13 executes the smoothing to remove a noise included in the image and the processing to obtain the changing degree (derivative value) of the brightness. A corresponding point determining part 14 obtains the corresponding point of two (right and left) images by using the feature quantity (smoothed brightness value or the derivative value) sent from the pretreatment part 13. The result is sent to a three-dimensional distance counting part 15 and the three-dimensional distance corresponding to respective points on the image is counted. Thus, since the searching scope of the corresponding point can be limited, not only the accuracy can be improved but also an arithmetic quantity can be decreased.
