PURPOSE:To reduce a test time, and to improve the accuracy of measurement by waiting after selecting in advance the position of a push button switch depressed by the depressing mechanism of measuring instrument, and detecting it to make unnecessary position retrieval. CONSTITUTION:A push button switch 12 to be tested is positioned by a numerical controller 2 according to a sequence stored in an storage device 44, and is depressed by the depressing mechanism. The position signal of the push button switch to the tested is outputted to an encoder 37, and a decoder 38, by the bit of position information of the push button switch to be depressed and stored in the storage device 44 in a measuring apparatus main body 42, and the encoder 37, an the decoder 38 select and wait a matrix wiring 11 on the basis of the position signal. By closing the contacts of the push button switch depressed by a depressing mechanism 31, a one host multivibrator 43 outputs a strobe signal that represents the close of the contacts to the main body 42. The main body 42, when receiving the strobe signal, calculates the performance characteristic of the push button switch to be tested.
