PURPOSE:To improve superconducting characteristic by filling a metallic container with superconductive powder and solidifying the powder by applying pressures either by sealing a pressure medium in a pressure vessel or by causing an explosion within the pressure vessel. CONSTITUTION:Filling a metallic pipe 1 with superconductive powder 2, both ends of the pipe 1 is sealed to contain the powder 2. Housing the pipe 1 in a pressure vessel 3, pressure is applied within the vessel 3 by pressurizing with either hydrostatically or hydraulically, or instantaneously by explosion within the vessel 3. This pressurization causes the powder 2 to bind tightly. When the pipe 1 filled wit the superconductor is subjected to a roll process and its diameter is reduced to a required value, the pipe becomes a superconducting wire having strong bond between the particles and a high bulk density. This improves the superconducting characteristic such as critical current density. |
