PURPOSE:To detect a carriage condition with high reliability by furnishing at least two pieces of timers and a plural number of recording paper detection sensors and detecting time for the head edge of a recording paper sheet to pass between each of the sensors and time for the tail edge of the recording paper sheet to pass each of the sensors. CONSTITUTION:Sensors AS, BS, CS to respectively detect existence of a recording paper sheet are provided on a recording paper sheet transport passage from a paper sheet feeding part of a facsimile device to a photosensitive drum, a recording paper sheet transport passage between the photosensitive drum and a drive roller pair and a recording paper sheet transport passage at the downstream side of a fixing device, and their output signals are input to a control part 70 with time information from timers 90A, 90B. Thereafter, whether the head edge of a recording paper sheet passes between specified sensors within a specified period of time or not is detected by using one of the timers 90A, 90B, while whether the tail edge of the recording paper sheet passes between the specified sensors within a specified period of time or not is detected by the other timer. From these detection results, it is possible to accurately grasp position of the recording paper sheet, occurrence of jam or running out of paper sheets. |
