PURPOSE:To provide the method and equipment for manufacturing the welded metallic pipe capable of accurately estimating the position of a weld zone and performing sure welding by simple measurement and equipment. CONSTITUTION:The manufacturing equipment of the welded metallic pipe to seal up by welding a gap part of an unsealed-up metallic pipe sent in the longitudinal direction is provided with a first measuring means 6A to measure the gap position at the first position of the upstream from the welding position, a second measuring means 6B to measure the position of the metallic pipe at the second position of the upstream or the downstream of the welding position, an arithmetic means to calculate the position of the gap part at the welding position from measured values of the first measuring means and the second measuring means and a control means 10 to control a welding means to the proper position for the position calculated by a result of a third stage.
