Twisting machine process - which utilises yarn detection device to stop the machine for piecing up before reel changeover

A process to piece the ends from assembly wound spools on an uptwister. The two-fold yarn is under surveillance as it leaves the spool, so that the machine is stopped before the cone empties. The single yarns are spliced to the new spool yarn, so that it follows through the hollow spindle to the twister. Pref. the system also applies to two-for-one folding. The amt. of yarn (V1) on the cone (2) may be assessed by a photo-electric device (6) or a measure of the yarn may be taken by the measuring device (7), so that wind-off is stopped near the end, leaving yarn (G) in the hollow spindle (4). The yarn is pieced up to the new spool either before or after this is placed onto the spindle. The joints are offset, so that both are not in the same position when twisted. The piecing may be made by using adhesive or by splicing, and afterwards it is necessary to draw the yarn into a tensioned position, before re-starting the machine. ADVANTAGE - The piecing on each yarn results in a continuously twisted yarn with no faults.
