<p>PURPOSE:To prolong the life of a steering motor by surely detecting the short- circuit and wire breakage and protecting the motor by judging the generation of the short-circuit and wire breakage of the steering motor from the detected temperature by a motor temperature sensor, stopping drive, and carrying out the display of trouble. CONSTITUTION:In a motor-driven power steering device in which an auxiliary steering force is applied on a steering shaft 2 by driving a steering motor 9 when the steering torque on the steering shaft 2 is detected, a motor temperature sensor 11 is installed to detect the temperature of the steering motor 9. When the rising value per supplied electric power and time of the detected temperature by the motor temperature sensor 11 exceeds a first set value, the generation of short circuit of the steering motor 9 is judged. When the temperature rise value does not reach a second set value, the generation of wire breakage of the steering motor 9 is judged, and in case of these judgements, the drive of the steering motor 9 is stopped, and the display of trouble is performed.</p> |
