The centring device has a tunnel defined by aligned openings (6) in a number of stacked discs (31...50) exhibiting a width in the insertion direction which decreases from one disc to the next, to suit optical fibre diameters adjacent the upper and lower ends of the optical fibre tolerance range. Pref. the width of the tunnel opening is widened outwards in the opposite direction to the insertion direction within a given section of the disc stack. ADVANTAGE - Simple mfr. with accurate centring.
