In a process for extracting sugar -contg. juice from sugar beet pulp, a mixt. of pulp with press water and fresh water is fed to an extn. system, from which the juice is withdrawn. The extracted pulp is mechanically dewatered under high pressure, yielding press water, which is concentrated to reduce the quantity by 20-30% before return to the extraction system. USE/ADVANTAGE - Quantity of water extracted under high pressure is not allowed to affect concn. gradient in processing.
