A process to produce a film hinge on a component esp. a plastic box mfd. by injection moulding involves (i) placing and aligning film hinge (4) insert preformed from new material in a tool cavity (1); (ii) clamping the hinge (4) at the correct alignment between the tool halves (2,3); and (iii) injecting the two parts of the component from both sides (9,10) of the tool to fuse with the hinge (4). Claimed process equipment includes (i) a tool (1) with a pair of opposing ribs (5) extending the breadth of the hinge; (ii) the ribs (5) and appropriate to the hinge size. Pref. the hinge (4) is mfd. from a strip of new oriented material or a fabric. USE/ADVANTAGE - For mfg. a film hinge in a plastic component, esp. a box. Permits the box to be mfd. in recycled material.
