A prosthetic element for surgical operations consists of a fabric of single thickness, produced by weaving or knitting multi-filament polyester threads (1,2) to form a square or rectangular mesh structure. The polyester threads may be combined with warp and/or weft threads of (opt. shape-memory) metal or polypropylene.
