The glass composition consists of 34.6-54.6 wt.% of CaO, 24.2-44.8 wt.% of SiO2, 0-8 wt.% of P2O5, 0.1-1.0 wt.% of CaF2, 1.0-10.0 wt.% of MgO. Wollastonite(CaO, SiO2) is as a main crystalline, apatite is as a second crystalline. Silica sand, calcium carbonate, magnesium oxide, and blue fluorite are mixed to give the above composition, fused at 1,450-1,550 deg.C, and cooled rapidly. The fusion is pulverized below 325mesh, formed under pressure, heated at 1,000-1,100 deg.C, drawn at a speed of 6-20 mm/h, and cooled. The title compound has a mechanic hardness suitable to a biomaterial, a good biocompatibility and bioactivity and is useful for a biomaterial of the artificial bone and an artificial tooth root.
