Manufacturing castings using mould built up in layers

A network generate is used to produce a finite element network of a casting, for which the distortion characteristics are calculated. Geometric data of a pattern for the casting are calculated from this data, taking into account the distortion. These data are then employed to manufacturer the distorted pattern in layers. The pattern is made of wood and/or plastic and is used to make a mould in moulding sand, into which the casting material is poured.
