PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intermediate transfer medium having a reduced coefficient of friction between a photoreceptor, and for preventing the reduction of an image gloss without causing irregularities in an image. SOLUTION: As for the intermediate transfer medium, a toner image on the intermediate transfer medium is transferred and fixed on to recording material by transferring the toner image from the photoreceptor to the intermediate transfer medium, putting the intermediate transfer medium and the recording material on top of each other, heating and pressurizing them, then, an image is obtained. The surface layer of the intermediate transfer medium contains mixture of silicone rubber and silicone resin. The compounding ratio S (wt.%) of the silicone rubber in the surface layer is controlled to be 10<=S<=80, or 20<=S<=80, the thickness t (μm) of the surface layer is controlled to be 10<=t<=200, or 20<=t<=150, besides, it is preferable that the following inequality is satisfied; t<0.013×S<2> -2.54×S+135.
