A supply of wood board material is cut to a given size or length, producing a series of identical workpieces which are then stacked in the same orientation on a turntable (5), hanging on chains, connecting rods or cables (6), not necessarily with their center of gravity at the geometric center of the table. When the stack is complete, the turntable is rotated to present the stacked boards for the next operation as required. The turntable is supported at the corners by e.g. hanging chains, connecting rods or cables, in lieu especially of a prior art supporting column mounted under the turntable.
