The invention relates to a device for generating an air rotation about the vertical axis of a fluidized bed. Said device comprises an air inlet above the horizontal ground of the fluidized bed which is provided with at least two inlet channels which are evenly spaced apart and which are arranged in the same height above the ground of the fluidized bed at an angle of at least 30 DEG and maximally 90 DEG . Said device facilitates a homogeneous temperature distribution in a circular fluidized bed with an upward outer current. In such an installation a method for producing spherical granules is carried out. The vertical current in the edge areas of the fluidized bed has a higher speed than in the center of the installation and an eddy flow about the vertical axis of the fluidized bed is generated via an air inlet above the ground of the fluidized bed.
