PURPOSE: Provided are an aqueous ophthalmic composition containing vitamin E or ester thereof as an active ingredient, sorbic acid or salts thereof as a preservative, and surfactant, which is useful for treatment of various eye diseases, especially for cataract. CONSTITUTION: The aqueous ophthalmic composition contains vitamin E or ester thereof as an active ingredient, sorbic acid or salts thereof as a preservative, and a surfactant. A concentration of vitamin E or ester thereof is 0.1 - 10%. A concentration of sorbic acid or salts thereof is 0.1 - 1.0%. The amount of the surfactant is 0.2 - 30 times an amount of the vitamin E or ester thereof. The aqueous ophthalmic composition further contains edetic acid or salts thereof as an increasing agent for preservative effect. |
