PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a constant and stable distance between a near-field light generator and a medium regardless to the changes in the ambient temp. by forming a recording layer to record information and a surface layer having higher hydrophobicity than the recording layer on the surface of the recording layer. SOLUTION: A recording layer 52 comprising a cyanine dye to record information is formed by a spin coating method on a glass substrate 51, and a surface layer 53 comprising a poly-methyl methacrylate having higher hydrophobicity than the recording layer 52 is formed on the recording layer 52. A near-field light emitting part is disposed in the proximity of the surface side of an optical recording medium 5. When the information is recorded, reproduced or erased in the optical recording medium 5, the distance between the near-field light emitting part and the optical recording medium 5 is detected and controlled while the optical recording medium 5 is rotated and driven. Since the surface layer 53 is hard, the surface 5a of the optical recording medium is hardly damaged by collision with the near-field light emitting part, and thereby, inhomogeneous state of hydrophobicity of the surface 5a is hardly caused. |
