The invention relates to a method and a device for interrupting the operation of a device that requires at least one energy carrier and/or an operating medium to be available in order to operate, when a buyer has not met his contractual obligations. According to the inventive method, a reference code (R1, R2) is stored, a period of time is measured from the agreed time when the device is commissioned for use as provided and once a predetermined period has lapsed, the supply of the energy carrier and/or operating medium is interrupted. If a release code (C1, C2) corresponding to the reference code is input before the predetermined period has lapsed, the operation interruption process is stopped or re-started at the point of the first commissioning. |
