PURPOSE: A variable structure for an apartment house is provided to facilitate the change of the size and the position of each room, bathroom and kitchen as well as the simple combination and separation of a bedroom and a living room, to minimize the cost of construction, and to use an underground space as a parking lot. CONSTITUTION: In a residential space of each household, more than one pillar(22) supporting directly the slab of a ceiling are erected. Several external pillars(23,24) are erected on the border of a core and an exterior space and support the slab of the ceiling with internal pillars(22). An external beam(26) is supported on the external pillars(23,24) erected on the border of the external space, and supports the slab of the ceiling with the internal(22) and the external pillars(23,24). A shearing wall(25) having rigidity against vertical load and horizontal load is constructed in the rest parts except a path for an entrance way, an opening for natural lighting and ventilation during being adjacent to each external pillar(23,24). The variable apartment structure is equipped with the residential space of each household in the absence of a bearing-wall, and in which a partition wall is constructed and removed at occupant's choice.
