PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk device which doesn't bring about excessive thermal stress between a magnetic disk substrate and a holding member not to deform them and has a high reliability with respect to the magnetic disk device where many magnetic disk substrates and holding members for holding the magnetic disk substrates are alternately inserted and fixed to a hub fixed to a revolving shaft of a motor and information is recorded and reproduced by a magnetic head moving on the magnetic disk substrate. SOLUTION: The magnetic disk device satisfies relation (A(D)+A(S))/T<0.25 where A (D) is the product between the thermal diffusion coefficient and the thermal expansion coefficient of the magnetic disk substrate and A (S) is the product between the thermal diffusion coefficient and the thermal expansion coefficient of the holding member and T is the sum total of products between thermal diffusion coefficients and thermal expansion coefficients of the magnetic dusk substrates and the holding members.
