OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM AND METHOD FOR RECORDING OR REPRODUCING INFORMATION TO OR FROM THIS MEDIUM

PURPOSE:To provide the optical recording medium which can read out the information at a high light reflectivity at the time of reproducing and can record the information by using a laser beam source of low output and the method for reading out and writing the information from and the this medium. CONSTITUTION:This optical recording medium has a dye-contg. layer and a light reflection layer on a transparent substrate and executes recording or reproducing of the information by irradiating the medium with recording or reproducing light through the transparent substrate. The dye-contg. layer which exhibits >=20% light absorbance to the recording light of one wavelength selected from 500 to 750nm and exhibits <=20% light absorbance to the reproducing light selected from 760 to 830nm is used as the dye-contg. layer of the above-mentioned recording medium.
