PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image defect correction apparatus which makes a white vertical line invisible that is generated by a point defect of a vertical CCD while suppressing the deterioration of substantial resolution. SOLUTION: The image defect correction apparatus for processing luminance signals outputted from two-dimensionally arranged light receiving elements 11 by using a plurality of vertical CCD 12 and more than one horizontal CCD 13 in a predetermined order and outputs an image information, comprises an address recording part 25 for recording an X address that identifies the vertical CCD in the vertical CCDs 12 in which the point defect exists, a correction value detection part 26 for detecting a correction value from the luminance signal corresponding to a specified part on the correction-target vertical line identified by the recorded X address and the luminance signal corresponding to a specified part on the other vertical line that is not a correction-target and a correction part 27 for correcting each luminance signal corresponding to the correction-target vertical line based on a detected correction value.
