PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide imaging apparatus capable of transferring image information of a plurality of segmented areas set from PCs on a network by a plurality of users in an optimum transfer state, and to provide an imaging method. SOLUTION: This imaging apparatus is provided with an imaging part for picking up an image, a communication part for communicating with a plurality of external pieces of apparatus on the network, a setting part for receiving signals from the plurality of external apparatuses through the communication part and setting segmentation areas of image information to be transmitted to the external devices and priority items of a processing parameter when transmitting the image information, and a control part for determining a processing parameter on the basis of the priority items of the processing parameter and transmitting the image information of the segmentation areas set to the respective external apparatuses from the image information picked up by the imaging part to a device on the network via the communication part in accordance with the determined processing parameter.
