<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic location code capable of taking individual tracking for an incalculable number of items into consideration. <P>SOLUTION: This invention provides a description as to an electronic location code (eLC) for providing positional information for an object. The eLC allows a high level of precision, but uses only a relatively small amount of data volume for expressing such the high level of precision. Moreover, the eLC can be easily regulated to represent a lower level of the precision, when the high level of precision is not available or not required. The eLC has a standardized format allowing easily transmission, sharing and storage between a plurality of users. The eLC provides many advantages and possibilities for the use of positional data, owing to these and other features.
