This invention provides a polymerizer and polymerization equipment for producing an aromatic polycarbonate by melt transesterification from a molten prepolymer, of the aromatic polycarbonate, produced from an aromatic dihydroxy compound and a diaryl carbonate. According to the polymerizer and polymerization equipment, a high-quality, high-performance aromatic polycarbonate free from coloring and having excellent mechanical properties can be produced on a commercial scale of not less than 1 ton and not more than 50 tons per hour stably for a long period of time, specifically for several thousands of hours or longer, for example, 5,000 hours, without a variation in molecular weight and the like. The polymerizer is of a guide contact flow-down-type, in which polymerization is carried out while flowing down a molten prepolymer along a guide, and has a specific structure. The polymerization equipment comprises a plurality of guide contact flow-down-type polymerizers having the above specific structure. |
