A vacuum cleaner is provided to operate a brush simply by stopping operation of the brush if the combination of a suction hose is released, by continuing operation of the brush if not so. A vacuum cleaner comprises a main body(110), a suction hose, a brush, and a brush switch. The main body consists of a motor sucking air, a suction port for sucking air of the motor, an attachment part(130) for sucking impurities, and an impurity discharging port for formed at the attachment part. The suction hose whose two ends are combined to the suction port and the impurity discharging port functions as a suction path. The brush assembled to the attachment part is driven by a brush motor for sweeping dust in fabric and a part to be cleaned. The brush switch controls the brush motor according to the combination condition of the suction hose and the impurity discharging port. The suction hose formed at a portion combined with the impurity discharging port has a switching projection for turning on/off the brush switch.
