<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent scattering of toner due to contact of a developing roll with an image holder occurring when no development is performed. <P>SOLUTION: When a developing unit 48 passes through a place opposite to the image holder 54 without performing development, spacing members 152 and 154 are inserted respectively between both ends of a developing unit housing 114 and the image non-formation holding parts 150, 150 of both ends of the image holder 54. In this case, the places in which the spacing members 152 and 154 are inserted are outside corresponding tracking rolls 148 in the longitudinal direction of the developing unit 48. The insertion of the separating members 152 and 154 prevents the tracking rolls 148 from abutting on the image non-formation holding parts 150 and makes a distance between the developing roll 49 and the image holder 54 longer than a development gap. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
