摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve printing speed with efficient cooling of printing elements to set a driving limit value further higher by selecting cooling means in an optimal position relationship out of a plurality of cooling means for the high temperature printing elements in a printing element group nonuniform in driving frequency, to make further effective use of cooling capacity. <P>SOLUTION: Distance data from each cooling means to each printing element stored in a CPU is used for the predetermined printing elements whose temperature rises due to concentration of driving within a predetermined time, to obtain a distance data total value from the respective cooling means to the printing elements to be cooled. The CPU selects the cooling means and cooling paths to minimize the total value, and the printing elements are efficiently cooled.
