The subject of the invention is a method of reducing excessive growth of filamentous bacteria in activated sludge, the process of reducing of bulking of activated sludge and use of naturally occurring organisms in the activated sludge to prevent its bulking. In more detail the invention concerns the biological method of reducing excessive growth of filamentous bacteria causing operating problems in sewage treatment plants, by using organisms - rotifers - naturally occurring in activated sludge.
