PURPOSE:To reduce an amount of a catalyst used in production of a carboxylic acid ester by a direction singly-stage reaction by reacting an aldehyde with an alcohol in the presence of oxygen and to improve the life of a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A unit of a catalyst used in reaction of an aldehyde with an alcohol can be improved by imparting hydrophobic nature to a palladium- containing catalyst used in the reaction. In order to give hydrophobic nature, hydrophobic Teflon, fluorinated graphite, high silica zeolite, etc., are used as a catalyst carrier. |
