<p>PURPOSE:To provide a rotary damper which is easy in handling, and can provide desired torque and make the torque different at the time of positive and reverse rotations, and is easy in disassembly and assembly, and moreover has durability, simple structure and non-occurrence of torque-down. CONSTITUTION:A rotary damper has a holding member 1 with a casing 11, and an axial member 3 whose one end is insertedly supported in the casing 1, and is provided with a braking mechanism to give resistance to relative rotation between the holding member 1 and the axial member 3. Either of the inner face of the casing 11 and the outer face of the inserted section 5 of the axial member 3 is formed of elastic material. In addition, the braking mechanism is protrusively provided on the surface of rigid material on one side against the elastic material of the inner face of the casing 11 or the outer face of the inserted section 5, and has at least one piece of projecting part 51 to pressedly deform the elastic material. The projecting part 51 has a pressedly contacting face being different in the directions of positive and reverse rotations of the axial member 3 to make pressedly contacting force different at the time of positive and reverse rotations.</p> |
