<p>PURPOSE:To provide a new antidiabetic medicine having excellent blood glucose- lowering activity, pancreatic beta-cell-protecting activity and blood insulin value increase-depressing activity and useful as a medicine for preventing and treating insulin-dependent diabetes and insulin-nondependent diabetes. CONSTITUTION:The objective antidiabetic medicine useful as an insulin- dependent diabete-treating medicine or an insulin-nondependent diabete-treating medicine contains a carbostyril derivative of the formula (R is halogen; the carbostyril skeleton is substituted at the 3 or 4-position; the bond between the 3 and 4 positions of the carbostyril skeleton is a single or double bond) or its salt, e.g. 2-(4-chlorobenzoylamino)-3-(2-quinolon-4-yl) propionic acid as an active ingredient, in an amount of 1-70wt.%, preferably 5-50wt.%. The active ingredient is preferably administered in a daily dose of 0.6-50mg/kg of the body weight and the active ingredient is preferably contained in an amount of 10-1000mg in the administration unit form.</p> |
