COMPOSITE THERMAL TRANSFER SHEET AND IMAGE FORMING METHOD

PURPOSE:To enhance the use efficiency of a dye by reducing the use amount of a thermal transfer sheet and to increase the number of formed images as compared with a conventional method in the case of fixed length. CONSTITUTION:In an image forming method wherein a sublimation type thermal transfer sheet is superposed on an arbitrary image receiving sheet having dye acceptivity or a dye receiving layer 4 is transferred to the surface of the image receiving sheet having no dye acceptivity and the sublimation type thermal transfer sheet is continuously superposed on the dye receiving layer and the whole is imagewise heated from the rear surface of the thermal transfer sheet, the feed speed of the image receiving sheet is relatively larger than that of the thermal transfer sheet. In a composite thermal transfer sheet wherein a dye layer 3 of one color or a plurality colors and a transfer layer containing one or more releasable dye receiving layer 4 are successively provided to one surface of a long base film, the width of the dye layer 3 is smaller than that of the dye receiving layer 4.
