In a method and apparatus for treating spent sugar-beet cossettes to produce an animal feed, e.g. a cattle feed, the spent cossettes are passed, from a bin 10, Fig 1, through fibrillating mechanism 2, e.g. of the type described in U.S.A. Specification 3,387,796, then through a screw-press 3, e.g. of the type described in U.S.A. Specification 3,126,818, which removes water, and then, if necessary, through a dryer 6, e.g. of the type described in U.S.A. Specification 3,363,665. The de-watered pulp from the screw-press 3 may be formed into pellets. |
